What does Fear Free mean in practice?

It means approaching every grooming appointment with the goal of making it a positive experience — or at least a neutral one — rather than just completing the task.

In real terms:

• Using treats and positive reinforcement throughout the appointment
• Going at the dog's pace, not the clock's
• Recognizing stress signals and pausing or stopping when needed
• Using calming handling techniques that minimize restraint
• Choosing the least invasive, lowest-stress approach for every step

Why does it matter?

Traditional grooming often relies on getting the job done as efficiently as possible. Fear Free grooming prioritizes the dog's emotional experience. The difference shows up most clearly in anxious dogs — and there are a lot of them.

Is Fear Free grooming slower?

• Refusing to eat treats they'd normally take
• Needing a long recovery period after grooming
